Group 2000
Start project: 14 October 2016

Group 2000 was a resistance group during the Second World War in the Amsterdam area, which remained almost unknown for 70 years. The group was founded in 1940 and led by Jacoba van Tongeren. By the end of the Second World War, she provided about 4,500 people adresses for going in hiding. Group 2000 comprised more than 140 members. The reason that Group 2000 remained unknown during and after the war is the use of codes instead of names of employees, people in hiding, addresses and helpers, etc. The key to the code was only found in 2014. For this reason, more and more members of Group 2000 are becoming known since 2015
